Mish Mash

  • Last weekend when everyone was enjoying the nice weather in Michigan we got to see snow when we took the dogs to the vet in Tehachapi. They apparently had a lot of snow, we just got rain. It was also really cold here.
  • Also, when my mom and dad were here we went to this pizza place (mostly because I wanted BLT pizza). It was a small restaurant, but it had really good pizza and some of the meals on the menu sounded pretty delicious. So we went last week and we both tried their subs and their breadsticks. I think it may be one of our favorite restaurants out here. Another plus is that it's RIGHT off base, so only about 15-20 minutes from our house.
  • We are attempting to plan a trip home the end of May. Actually, the last weekend in May which happens to be President's Day. Ryan hasn't been home in almost a year and I think he's really hoping it works out (whether or not he'll admit that is truly another story).
  • I picked up some more books and onesies for Dominick. We thought they looked like shirts that Ryan would wear. The plaid shirt even has the sleeves rolled up, which Ryan totally does! :)
  • This upcoming weekend we have made plans to go to the Los Angeles Zoo with some of our friends and their little girl. We're pretty excited to just get off base and go someplace new.
  • Ryan had his board today for Airman of the Quarter. He didn't have high hopes going into it and he said it went ok, but doesn't think he got it. He said that he messed up a couple of times. I think it's really cool that he even got to go up (even though he says everyone gets to from the med group as long as they're approved by their flight). **Update** Tonight at dinner he said that tomorrow he will find out that he didn't get AOTQ. (his words not mine)
  • We are pretty sure he is going to go TDY for about 5 days in the early summer. He's pretty excited about it and it should be a really good opportunity for him. He's still waiting on a couple of other things to be approved.
  • When I first found out I was pregnant, I joined a childrens book swap. Surprisingly we got 8 books or so; he's got quite the little library started. We hope it continues to grow!
  • We've been having a couple of our favorite meals that my mom makes and we've been loving it. Lettuce, bacon and eggs, mince and totties, and we even are going to buy the ingredients for ham loaf. We've only made it once since we've been in California and it was a lot of work (since we can't actually buy it pretty much ready to go).
  • I'm almost finished with our registry. A lot of people have been asking about it and once it's ready I'll send it to everyone. Since we don't have a Baby's R Us near us (it's basically a Toys R Us with a small baby section) or really any baby store, we just did an online registry. You don't have to buy from the website; I even think it'll give you the option of clicking "bought from somewhere else" so nobody else buys it.You don't even have to buy anything at all! :)

Mail Day

Everyday on my way home from work I swing by the mail boxes to check for mail. Yesterday I was lucky enough to find a key (which means we have a package) in our box. I looked and there was a package from my Aunt and Uncle. Then when I walked in the door Ryan said, "You have another package on the kitchen table." Needless to say it was a good mail day (not to mention we didn't have any bills come).

The package on the kitchen table said it was from Cabela's and I was sure Ryan might have ordered something. I asked him, but he said no and that he wouldn't have had it addressed to myself. As I was opening it I told him it was probably from Shelbi and Andy. Sure enough...it was!!!!
Ryan said that this was the only shirt he was going to be able to wear.
Then I opened the sweet little package from Sherry and Wayne and they sent the sweetest little outfit for Dominick! We loved them!
I don't know why this will not rotate
AND last weekend when my parents were here I bought him his first taggie dog buddy! I think he's going to love it and it's pretty cute! When we were at Target (the same night I bought this) we found 3 Lakers onesies that we are going to go back and get. They were closing while we were there.
Speaking of my parents visit, we had a great time when they were here! It was fun to see them and see their pictures from when they were in Asia. It's been fun having visitors the past two months!

Glendale

Yesterday I made an appointment for an early gender reveal in Glendale. My doctors office won't do the gender scan until 20 weeks, so since we're so impatient I began looking for other options. That and it was an early birthday present to know! Anyways, our appointment was at 10:30 so we got up early and were on our way. We had planned to make a little day trip out of it, which is just what we did.

I have another appointment on Tuesday with my regular Dr., which I have every 4 weeks. At this next appointment, they're not planning on doing an ultrasound, so it was exciting to see Little B yesterday. Anyways, Little B. is a little BOY! We went into the appointment without a boy name picked and I was so sad. Ryan for sure thought he was going to be a girl, so he didn't want to really put much thought into a boy name (even though I was determined he was a boy from the very beginning). After we left, I felt like our baby was going to be nameless forever (think hormones).

After our appointment we went to this little Italian restaurant we found on restaurant.com, George's Cucina Italiana. Ryan bought a couple of gift cards when they were $1 around Christmas. Normally we're not really a fan, because the options are pretty limited. Anyways, it was a good idea because the restaurant was one of the best we've been to out here. It wasn't a chain and was so small, but the food was delicious and we both said we'd be back again!

Oh and at lunch we decided on a name for the little guy. We each had a favorite name that we liked and one that wasn't our favorite but was in our top 3. My favorite was Xavier, Ryan's was Hudson. But we compromised on Dominick Thomas and we think it'll be perfect.

By the time lunch was over we were both stuffed, but wanted to do some shopping. The Glendale Galleria was within 10 minutes of the restaurant so we went over there. It was nice to actually be able to go to a real mall, ours is pretty limited to the stores and they're stores we've never heard of. The Galleria had literally everything you could imagine AND there was even a 3 story Target there! I was kind of in heaven for a little while.

We were really glad we were able to get out and see the "real" California everyone talks about. Now that Ryan is done with his EOC we are able to do more things since he's not spending all of his time studying {thanks goodness}!

This Thursday my parents are coming back from their month long trip to Singapore. I get to pick them up from the airport and spend the weekend with them. We're excited to have some more visitors and can't wait to hear all about their trip.{and see pictures}. This past week-ish they've been in Thailand with Josh, Lisa, Blake and Joslyn so we are also excited to hear about that.
