-This morning on the way to school Dominick asked to listen to Shut Up And Dance. I did the voice thing where I basically press a button and tell it to play a song. The only problem is every time Dominick heard the ding telling me to say the command I wanted the car to do he would start yelling, "SHUT UP, SHUT UP, SHUT UP and DAAAAAAAAAAAAAANCE! After about the 7th time of him doing this and me telling him he had to stop or it wasn't going to happen because the car didn't know what I wanted and him telling me to no tell him that I MIGHT have lost my cool and yelled, "DOMINICK!" We both instantly felt bad, but $hit son, do you want to hear the song or not?
-Dominick is REALLY big into winning. Everything is a contest with him. He's also a HORRIBLE winner and an even worse loser. So sometimes I will purposely beat him over and over again just because everyone else ALWAYS lets him win. I have also taught him whether he wins or loses he has to shake their hand and tell them good game. He doesn't always and most times it's a struggle (especially if he loses), but he will begrudgingly do it.
-Another thing he's really big on is best friends. He
ALWAYS tells me that his Daddy is his BEST friend. Sometimes he'll say Mommy
and Daddy are both his best friends, but Daddy is NEVER not his best friend.
One night we were laying there snuggling and I had said, "I love you
Dominick." He said, "Mommy, you are NOT my best friend". So my
response was, "Good! You're not mine either." I mean I just want to be a best friend just once.
-I despise giving Dominick baths. He normally takes showers with Ryan at night after Ryan gets home from the gym. He gets a bath everyday because he goes to school and is around all of the germs.
-When he picks his nose I tell him his fingers are going to fall off so he will stop. I mean there's not much that's more disgusting than a kid picking their nose. Bleh!
-Dominick HATES anything spicy. He refuses to even drink anything carbonated (which this part I don't mind at all) because it burns his mouth. Anyways, he was going through this phase where he was calling people butt and saying it allllll the time. For example, Me: Hi Dominick. How was your day? Dominick: Hi butt. Good, butt!" So after about a month of this we told him if he kept saying it he would get hot sauce. Now I use the hot sauce threat way more than I probably should and have had to follow through with a couple of times as well. He gets less than a drop of red hot (so not even that hot), but man is he SO good after that.
-I'm not a huge fan of playing. I hate imaginative play and I really don't enjoy trains. Both Dominick loves. My brain just doesn't work that way. I'll give him his tablet or tell him he has to wait for his dad. I mean really, I can only push a train around the tracks so many times before I'm like why are we doing this? I will play games, play doctor, build magna tiles and duplos with him all day long (and other things), but playing is just not something that I'm good with.
And just so you all don't think I'm ruining my kid here are some of my "winning" moments...
-I built him a pretty epic train track because I love him and he asked. I've also had to put it back together approximately 10000000000 times because there's a lot of bridges and it's fallen.
-I built him a firetruck out of a cardboard box and may have spent 7 hours painting and building it for his project. I am not sure if this is a win or a fail on my part because it was supposed to be something HE did for his homework assignment, but I basically took it over and he got to glue some things on and paint the ladders. He was SO proud of it and said, "WOW, MOMMY I LOVE IT!"
-If you know me you know I DESPISE the cold and still will take him outside to play in the snow and let him sled even if it's barely 10 degrees and the snow is hardly covering the ground. I mean, y'all know how long it takes to dress a toddler to go play in the snow.
-We go on mommy and son dates all the time because quality time spent with him is basically the bees knees in my eyes.
So there you have it...a little bit of real mom moments.
