Malachi,

This first week of your little life has been a big one. You came home on the 8th of February, only one night after you were born. You ate around the clock and never seemed all that satisfied. My milk had still not come in yet and we were doing daily checks for your bilirubin and your weight. On the 9th I offered you a small amount of formula before bed because I just couldn't stand seeing you so unhappy and uncomfortable. Thankfully my milk came in the next day and you were a COMPLETELY different baby.
You didn't sleep well in the beginning and you mostly slept in my arms, but we all got rest and that's what was important. We were also in survival mode so any sleep we got was necessary. Your Papa and Gigi were here so they would watch you for a couple hours during the day so I could get a much needed nap in in the afternoon.
Speaking of your Papa and Gigi they were here until the 11th. They loved spoiling you with lots of snuggles and baby loves. You also didn't mind the extra attention. They did SO much for all of us while they were here and we miss them lots, but will be seeing them again in a few short weeks.

On the 10th we took your first trip to the Air Force Museum after your drs appointment. Papa and Gigi had taken Dominick there and so we made a quick trip. I had to feed you while we were there, but otherwise you did SO good being out and about. You're not too big of a fan of your car seat at first, but once we are going you do pretty well. On the 11th you went to your first birthday party, it was for Mason's 6th birthday. You did well in the carrier and spent the majority of the time in it.
Your big brother LOVES you. He will randomly ask to hold you and he is always asking to give you lots of hugs and kisses. I hope you two always cherish each other and grow up to be forever friends. When you're in your swing he wants to make sure the music is playing and the mobile is going for you the whole time. He also brings you your teddy bear so you don't get lonely. At the hospital Dominick asked to hold you, but you were heavy. On the way home he said that he thought you liked him and that he liked you too. He said you were very heavy, but he's real strong.
Your cord fell off on the 12th on accident. I think it got stuck in your gown during a diaper change and was pulled off. You had a drs appointment on 2/15 and they said that it looked like it was healing okay and wasn't infected.
Also on 2/15 Momma came down with the flu and isn't able to snuggle with you for a whole week. We spent the majority of our day in the emergency room. You did great for your daddy.
Your second week of life was full of drs appointments. One for your belly button, one at the Children's hospital (which was a referral and pointless) and another at the peds clinic.
You are long and still so skinny, but your cheeks are starting to fill out. You are still in newborn clothes, but I have a feeling you're going to be moving up to 0-3 month clothes in no time. You are still in newborn diapers (even at week 3).
You're a a great eater. It takes you about 30-40 minutes and you eat every 2.5-3 hours around the clock. You do spit up pretty much after every feeding and we really have to make sure you burp well or you seem to be uncomfortable.
You're also getting to be a better sleeper and getting better and better about sleeping in your bassinet. You don't love to be swaddled, but it's basically the only way you will sleep. Your little arms wake you up. You LOVE to be held and are the most comfortable when you're held.
Your least favorite thing is bath time since you hate to be cold, but I think now that you're able to get completely wet you'll enjoy it even more. Your first real bath (not a sponge bath) was on the 21st. You also really don't enjoy getting your diaper changed, but you're doing better with that also. You just love being cozy so anything to disturb that makes you super upset
You're mostly an easy going baby and don't cry much. You start fussing when you're hungry and when we have you laying on your back for too long without attention. At your 2 week follow up the doctor asked if you ever cry because you're just so chill.
You're VERY strong. You love to hold your head up off our shoulder and you love to look around. You don't even mind tummy time and try to pick up your head and you move it from one side to the other.
You're also a big fan of your swing and do well in it and you enjoy being on your play mat. Like I said you do not like being in your car seat. We've taken you out to dinner, on walks and a few errands and you just don't care for being in it. You are a really easy going baby and we just love you so much.
I'm so thankful for you and can't wait to see more of your personality come out. You are sweet as pie and we all just think the world of you. We love you sugar bear!
