Walt Disney World: Hollywood Studios & a Sad End

Hollywood Studios was the day we were MOST excited about. Dominick is a HUGE Star Wars fan and we just knew Hollywood Studios wasn't going to disappoint. The only big thing on our agenda for the day was making sure he was able to do the Jedi Training. Our goal was to get to the park at park opening which we did successfully. We made a mad dash to the line for the Jedi Training and had no problem getting him signed up. He was PUMPED. He ended up being in the first group and that worked out great. While we were waiting we saw that Olaf was just starting to see people so I got in line and the boys went to ride Star Tours. When they met up with us it was our turn to meet Olaf! Dominick loved that! It was perfect timing because after that we went to get ready for the Jedi Training.

After the Jedi  Training the boys rode Star Tours again and I went and rode Tower of Terror. Ryan refuses to ride and Dominick was more interested in the Star Tours ride. He loved that none of them are ever the same. We met up and had lunch at 50's Prime Time CafĂ©. We loved it, but Dominick was just tired and not really into it. After lunch he perked up a tiny bit and we rode Toy Story Mania, while we were in line Dominick kept saying how cold he was. It was almost 100 degrees with 235982759% humidity. Right after that it was time to head to the condo for some rest time. We were hoping after Dominick had a nap and rested a bit he would feel a little better. Not even thinking we thought maybe the heat was getting to him. He was still super excited and he wanted to go back that afternoon/evening because he REALLY wanted to meet the Star Wars characters.

After naps we asked Dom if he still wanted to go back or just stay home and rest. He wanted to go so we went back to Hollywood Studios. The boys rode Star Tours a few more times, we rode Toy Story Mania again and went to meet characters. Dominick was scared of Kylo Ren who is IN character. He was so nervous and Kylo Ren kept telling him to stand next to him and Dominick kept walking in circles. hahaha! When we were leaving Dominick turned to him, gave him the peace sign and said "deuces!". I couldn't stop laughing because D really had no idea what the heck was happening. He met Chewy afterwards and loved him and then BB-8. As we were leaving the Storm Troopers were on patrol. People kept asking for pictures and they kept saying no. Dominick said, "can I have a picture for my birthday?" And they said yes. But then I got yelled as because I was taking so long and they were on patrol. HA!

After that we just knew Dominick was really not into it. He was ready to go and we were tired of being hot. We decided to skip fireworks shows and found the nurses station on our way out. I asked for some Tylenol and they came to take his temperature. He ended up having a temp of 103!!!!! I felt absolutely horrible for him and terrible for making him push through like we  did on such a full day. WORST PARENTS EVER! We ended up calling my mom and dad who had Malachi to tell them we were taking D to Urgent Care. On the plane down we realized he had pink eye, but had talked to my cousin who's an optometrist and said to keep flushing his eyes. We ended up grabbing him on the way to do a two at once kind of deal. Dominick ended up having strep throat and an ear infection and Malachi didn't have legit pink eye, but a double ear infection and the sinus part was coming out of his eyes. It was awful.

We finally got home pretty late and got the boys in bed. The whole we week we were on hurricane watch. People were realizing it was coming that way and it might be a good idea to get out. Wednesday happened to be our down day. We hung out in the morning and then by naptime decided that we should probably do the same. I started calling around to see about us flying home early and there were NO flights that could fit all of us or even half of us. So that night we got in the rental and started heading north.

It was a bummer day and a disappointing way to end our trip, but it was best for our safety. None of us wanted to be stuck. Ryan and I discussed it and said we'd come back in November to use the rest of our days on our ticket...and we did just that!
